ELB 1200 – Release details

Elinchrom announces the release of the ELB 1200,
The Premier adventure light for photographers.

Photographers can now order the unit and experiment its capabilities on their own starting by the end of August 2017.

The ELB 1200 is revolutionizing the photographic industry by allowing photographers to carry smaller, more powerful packs to every possible location their adventures may take them. This unit is built to work in the most demanding environments.

Performance At Every Level

Speed is the operative word. The pack can deliver its 1200Ws symmetrically or asymmetrically in 1/10 F-stop steps and variable over 8.5 F-stops allowing photographers to either overpower the sun or shoot wide open. The pack recycles to full power in 1.7 in fast mode with bursts of up to 20 flashes per second.

The built-in Skyport protocol with 20 frequency channels and 4 groups provides seamless synchronisation and control between the ELB 1200 and the Skyport transmitters.

Lighting For All Applications

The ELB 1200 can be complemented with one of its three newly designed flash heads (Action, Hi-Sync and Pro) with a rugged aluminium housing, a new tilt head, and a 7-8 mm central umbrella.

The Hi-Sync head, in combination with the Skyport transmitter HS is optimized for Hi-Sync photography.

True to its name, the Action head will give you the fastest flash duration of all with a 1/8850s, when set to 172Ws. This head is ideal when working at normal shutter speeds or with medium-format cameras with leaf shutter lenses.

The Pro head is a great all-rounder with a flash duration of 1/5050s at 140Ws.

Hi-Sync

Hi-Sync is Elinchrom’s optimized power solution for shutter speeds up to 1/8000s for Nikon™, Canon™, Sony™, Olympus™ and Panasonic™ cameras. Hi-sync enables to freeze motion, darkening and overpowering the ambient light and sun and use wider aperture for blurring background.

For Stills & Video

Each fan-cooled head is outfitted with a dimmable bright (Daylight balanced / 250 W equivalent / 4000+ Lumens / 92 CRI) LED modelling light that draws minimal power from the pack. Coupled with the silent fan mode, this ensures exceptional lighting capabilities for both still photography and video.

Compatible with all Elinchrom light shaping tools, photographers can take full control of their light in their workflow.

High Performance Battery

The ELB 1200 comes with a high performance Air battery (1.1 kg / 2.4 lbs.), designed to travel light and safe. The battery offers 215 full power flashes or 80 min. of full power video run time.

For photographers that need even more performance, the optional HD battery (1.5 kg / 3.3 lbs.) is a real powerhouse for studio and on-location use, giving approx. 400 full power flashes or around 120 min. of full power video run time.
