We shall remember

I started my series “We shall remember” because last year I was watching the “Remembrance” parade in London on television.

My name is Louis Amore, I’m a 42-year-old photographer from London. I have been a professional photographer for the past 6 years, but I have studied photography from a young age; since the days of film.

“I had to record these men and women for posterity, it was my way of saying thank you.”

Last year, the “Remembrance” parade really got to me, the faces of the men and the women who had gone through so much made me question what I had done in my life, I jumped up, grabbed my camera and light and got on the train heading to London town.

“The Rotalux Octa Softbox was the main power horse!”

I used a 100 cm Rotalux Octa Softbox on the ELB 400 Set.

It’s all incredibly portable and light, so I fitted everything into a normal day rucksack!

The Rotalux Octa was the main power horse here, I’m so grateful for this modifier. The light that comes out of this is just beautifully soft and the fact that it uses a rapid assembly system to unpack so quickly was a blessing. I knew the place would be so crowded and that I would be setting up my equipment on the ground, in front of people. The rapid assembly system really helped me get things ready and neatly in no time. Super portable and lightweight, this wouldn’t be possible with another system.

The camera I used was a Nikon D810 and my lens choice was my new Sigma 24 mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens. I wanted to create a real cinematic feel to my photos, I used this setup for both Parades each year.

During my time photographing these men and women, they were all so happy to have their portraits taken. Some of them stood to attention for the photograph. That made me think about the Military, what all these people knew. I took all of their contact details so I could send them all the photos that I took on the day for free. It gives me great pleasure knowing that these veterans and their families would have a photograph on their memorable day.
